What the Daffodils Know

What the Daffodils Know

Each year, at the house where I grew up, I eagerly awaited the arrival of spring. The first sign was always the hyacinths—thick green shoots pushing through the cold ground, defying winter’s weight. It amazed me how, no matter how harsh the season had been, they always remembered to return.

At first, I’d doubt them. Maybe this year has been too cold, the snow too heavy. But then, sure enough, they’d rise. And soon after, the daffodils would follow—clumps of green breaking through the earth, a promise that spring was truly on its way. Their bright yellow blooms lined our front walkway, bringing cheer not just to our home, but to the whole neighborhood.

My father planted those bulbs, and with them, a lesson:

That life moves in seasons.

That even in the deepest cold, something beautiful is preparing to rise.

That no matter how long the winter, spring always keeps its promise.

And year after year, it did.

Because, just like the daffodils, we all hold a wisdom within us: to trust in the waiting, to reach for the light, and to bloom when the time is right. That is what the daffodils know.

This Spring L’or Box is a reflection of that promise—a celebration of renewal, beauty, and the quiet magic of the seasons.
