How thrilling to have one of my photos featured in the Autumn 2025 issue of Country Sampler Magazine!
Seeing my work in print is such a joy, and to make it even sweeter, the article not only highlighted one of my styled vignettes but also included a section with my personal tips on styling with risers.
The article titled "9 Ways to Step Up Your Displays" is all about creative ways to elevate displays and make them more engaging, and my contribution was idea Number 6: Architectural Salvage.
For this vignette, I used stacked sections of old chippy porch posts, one of my absolute favorite things to decorate with. Their texture and history add so much character, and when layered, they remind me of a tiered cake stand. I topped them with a small collection of antique bottles, each fitted with dried pumpkin stems, and finished the look with a simple ring of bittersweet for that perfect autumn pop of color.
Risers are such a simple tool, but they instantly add height, draw the eye to special pieces, and bring more depth and texture to any arrangement.
Here are a few of the tips I shared in the article:
-
Mix it up. Use different heights and materials to create interesting contrast.
-
Stick with odd numbers. Groupings of three or five feel natural and balanced.
-
Experiment with angles. Try stacking risers or tilting them slightly for added personality.
-
Think practical, too. Risers can be functional as well as decorative—like elevating a lamp to brighten a corner or holding a stack of plates at a snack station.
I am so honored to have been included in this issue and to be able to share my passion for styling with such a wide audience. A huge thank you to the editors of Country Sampler for this feature. It truly means so much!
If you spot the Autumn issue on newsstands, I hope you’ll pick it up and flip through for even more creative ideas. And as always, thank you for following along on my journey. I love being able to share these little styling adventures with you, and I hope they inspire you to look at your own home in new and creative ways.
Here’s to elevating the everyday...sometimes all it takes is a riser! ✨
